A closer look at my MYO lampshade fairy lights kits...

I've even managed to list them on my website!

They have everything you need to make and decorate 10 mini lampshades to decorate a string of 20 fairy lights.

The set pictured is the Summer Garden version, which has lots of greens and pinks in the patterns plus plain fabric in complimentary colours so you can mix and match your patterns and colours and make something uniquely yours.

Each kit contains:

Fabric
Lampshade vinyl
Templates
Hole punch
Split pins
Fairy lights

All you need are a pair of scissors, a pencil, and 2 x AA batteries for the lights.

There is a Seed heads pattern version that features blues and yellows and also a use your own fabric version, which is perfect for using up your fabric scraps and off cuts.

Each kit has everything you need to make a set of mini lampshades to decorate a string of fairy lights (the lights are in the kit too). Come and make an inside out lampshade with me!

We'll be using some of my colourful summer garden print fabric to put on the inside of the shade and then your choice of plain, coloured fabric on the outside, so the pattern will shine through when the light is on.

The class uses simple techniques, and I'm there to guide you through applying the fabric, making neat seams, rolling the shade, and tucking in the fabric for a neat finish.

You'll go home with your own bespoke 20cm lampshade to fit either a ceiling fitting or a lampbase, plus lots of new skills.

NEW DOUBLE SIDED WRAP

I love a multi-purpose, double design, 2 for 1, wee surprise, so I've made some new wrap that has two different designs per sheet.

The inside of your parcels can be pretty too, or if you're wrapping a few small items, you can use the different sides to make them all look different but still be matching. It's also lovely and thick, which makes it joy to wrap with.

It also makes a good poster, which can be turned over when you want to change up the room.

So this weekend I digressed from my normal @funadaydundee project and did something fun that I had been looking forward to for quite some time: I made some mini fairy lights lampshades!

My maker friend @katiebirdiedoes has been running a few fairy lights lampshade making classes using her own fabric designs. Unfortunately I could never make the dates. But a wee while ago she told me that she was thinking of creating these mini lampshade kits with instructions and all the materials included to make yours in the comfort of your own home. But she obviously needed a volunteer to test these.
And guess who volunteered for that? I had great fun making these little lampshades, everything I needed was in the box that Katie sent me. And the instructions were really easy to follow.

If you like the look of these give it a thumbs up and I hope that will mean that Katie will have these for sale soon! I'll let her know.

Now I just have to decide where to put these...

At the moment, there are lots of seed heads left over from last summer, which have some lovely sculptural shapes, but I'm hoping that by the end of the month, some new shoots will be starting to sprout.

I'm about to embark on another purse sewing quest.

I had some lovely silky off cuts after making a big batch of scarves last week as well as some velvet cushion scraps, all now destined to be one-off purses with a vintage snap frame.

This lot, when finished, will be coming with me to @perthcreativeexchange Winter Market and Open Studios on Saturday.
